Indoor recreational activities
For most people, growing old entails the decline of one’s physical capabilities. While this may generally be true, it should not be a deterrent in your pursuit for fun as there are hundreds of different ways that you can get up, get active and have fun today. Here at Boca Raton Assisted Living in Courtyard Garden, we don’t let age dictate the amount of enjoyment our residents have and so should you! This series of recreational activities is guaranteed to bring about benefits for both your physical and mental wellbeing.
Collage Making
The best part about collage making other than the fact that it stimulates one’s creativity is that it’s very cheap to do. You won’t need any fancy paraphernalia in making a masterpiece. Anything from old magazines, leaves, construction paper to unused junk are great for making collages. You can even add family pictures and memoirs to them to make your artwork even better. Featuring elements of your family in your collage adds a sense of pride in them. You should consider framing your work when it’s completed, this will make preserving much easier.
Listen and dance to your favorite tunes
Everyone in your family, including you, should make time to listen and dance to your favorite songs. You can do this by simply sitting together as a family or even better, dance with each other to the tunes. This activity makes your family bonding even better as you get to explore different hits from different eras and know your family on a deeper level in the process. Make sure to take turns playing your favorite songs and tell your family what you like about the songs. Encourage the kids to dance and also dance with the kids.
Mental exercises
Try developing an interest in mental puzzles as it sparks excitement in your mind. You are hardwired as a human being to respond in the face of challenges. On top of that, studies even suggest that doing so might delay the onset of serious old age diseases like Alzheimer’s or delay the progress of the disease in people already afflicted by Alzheimer’s disease.
